Volunteer

The New Bill of Rights project runs on volunteer time. Until the foundation is incorporated there is no staff: the research, the polling analysis, the salons, and the fundraising are done by people who give a few hours a week because they believe the work matters.

Where we need help

Research: Building and checking the research corpus for each category: the legal landscape, state precedents, and how peer democracies solved the same problem. Legal or policy training helps; care with sources is required.
Analytics: Working with the polling data: compiling party breakdowns, checking every number against the pollster’s published tables, and building the charts that show whether a proposal clears the bar.
Polling: Designing and fielding the national survey that will test amendment framings across the spectrum: questionnaire design, sampling, vendor selection, and analysis.
Salon organizing: Running the monthly Los Angeles salon and, in time, salons in other cities: venues, invitations that reach across the spectrum, moderation, and follow-up.
Fundraising: Founding-donor outreach now; grant writing and a broader giving program once the foundation is incorporated and its 501(c)(3) status is granted.

What we ask

Tell us how you can help and why you believe in the mission. The second matters as much as the first. This project only works if the people doing it hold to the full-spectrum bar — including when a proposal they like fails it — and publish what fails alongside what passes.
